Michiko Matsumoto
Born in Shizuoka, Japan, in 1950, Michiko Matsumoto holds a B.A. in Japanese literature from Hosei University. Since beginning her photographic journey in the early 1980s, she has gained international acclaim for her portrait series of global artists and dancers. A prolific author with ten published photography books, her work is held in the permanent collections of numerous museums worldwide. Currently based in Tokyo, she continues to document the intersection of culture and human experience through her lens.
